This homeowner in Ronkonkoma, NY had quite the mess of an attic. In this album, you can clearly see how insulation was sporadically placed around with minimal air sealing under it all and piece of extra wood just all over the place. We pulled out the old batts of insulation and vacuumed out the remaining small pieces and dust. We then sealed any seams or holes in the attic floor and added/sealed can light covers over all the high hats to stop the convective flow of warm air from the inside of the home up and out through the attic. Lastly, we blew in our TruSoft cellulose to the optimum insulation value. This home will be far more comfortable and energy efficient all year round!
Before
Here you can see the messy attic before we started work
Lacking air sealing
After moving the old insulation, you can see the lack of air sealing in this attic.
Air sealing
Attic is getting all sealed up. Great improvment.
Can light cover
All high hats are covered and sealed to prevent air leaking before adding the insulation.
Baffles & Cellulose Insulation
We installed baffles to help with ventalation. Then insulated the attic with blown in cellulose.
Finished Project
Finished insulated attic space with blown in cellulose.
