Uncomfortable Home- Merrick, NY
Challenge
Mr. Z contacted Triple H to have comfort issues in his home. He explained that he was a new homeowner and his home was very cold and didn't know what the problem was or what to do. Triple H sent up an appointment for Home Comfort Specialist Brian to go to Mr. Z's home in Merrick to evaluate. Brian looked around the home and after taking a look at the attic space, it was determined that the attic space was inadequately insulated and leaking air. But the problem was, the attic space was inaccessible, there wasn't enough space to move around to work.
Solution
Brian recommended insulating the attic with blown-in cellulose insulation from the fascia/or gable ends. By removing the gutter and fascia board behind it, or removing a piece of siding on the gable ends and drilling access holes, a special long rigid fill tube can be inserted far into the attic to blow Dr. Energy Saver's cellulose insulation. Open blown cellulose will naturally settle 1/2"-1 1/2" from the roof sheeting, preserving some ventilation from the soffit ridge. Now Mr. Z's home is more comfortable, warmer in summer, cooler in winter, and heat/AC runs less.
