Challenge
This homeowner in Sayville, NY contacted Triple H wanting an evaluation on their attic space. The current insulation is 40 yrs old and hasn't been replaced or added to since. The customer is also experiencing drafts in the home, and this year it seems to be particularly colder in the house.
Solution
Triple H set up an appointment to have our representative Brian to go out to the home to do a complete evaluation and provide our best recommendation. After Brian completed the evaluation it was determined that the customers current insulation was old, moldy, and damaged, it was not doing its job. Brian recommended air sealing all the penetrations in the attic space to prevent any air leakage. As well as adding more insulation to what was currently there. He recommended adding 10 more inches of blown-in cellulose to reach an R-value of R-49. Brian also recommended adding insulation to the cathedral ceilings to help with any comfort issues in the home. With all of this work the customer should experience a less draft home that is more comfortable year round.
