Before and after we encapsulated this crawl space.
A homeowner from Bay Shore, NY contacted Triple H stating their first floor is very cold. When they raise the thermostat temperature, the main floor remains in the low 60’s. Our home comfort consultant Ryan performed a free evaluation of the home. Upon completion Ryan was able to provide solutions for the homeowner. Triple H started by removing and disposing of the existing insulation inside of the attic, they air sealed and insulated the attic floor with 14” of TruSoft cellulose. They insulated the exterior walls by dense packing with TruSoft cellulose, and sealed and insulated the rim joist with SilverGlo insulation. The homeowner will now be comfortable in their home and it will also be more efficient.
A resident from Hauppauge, NY was looking to get an estimate on new attic insulation. After having a look at the attic, it was noticed that he definitely needed updated insulation. The current insulation wasn’t doing its job which was causing the home to be uncomfortable and harder to heat and cool throughout the year. Triple H went removed the old insulation. After the old insulation is removed the attic floor is then air sealed to prevent any air leaks within the attic. Then 12” of Blown-In Cellulose Insulation was added. This home should now be more comfortable year-round, and the homeowner should have lower utility bills.
While installing insulation in an attic in Hauppauge, NY Triple H also installed Can Light covers. Can Lights are holes in the ceiling which causes air leaks between the fixture and the drywall. Most can lights are not rated to have insulation against them because it could be a fire hazard when they get hot. Without any proper coverage your home could have more drafts and colder rooms and have a higher overall home air leakage rate. Dr. Energy Saver’s TiteShell fireproof can light covers are installed over the can lights. They are fitted around wires and fixtures and sealed airtight with expanding foam. Once the covers are installed then we can blow in the cellulose insulation over them. With the new can light covers installed the home will be less drafty and more comfortable.
A resident of Smithtown contacted Triple H with comfort concerns in their home. One of the issues discovered was their attic Knee Wall had no insulation. The Knee wall is the short wall that forms a Triangular space. The floor of the Knee Wall is the ceiling of the room above it. Knee Walls are often not insulated. This space causes the room below it to stay cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Triple H used used SilverGlo between floor joists as needed on the Knee Wall and then blew in Cellulose Insulation. Now the room beneath the Knee Wall will be much more comfortable year round.
